LG maybe Set to Launch a Blockchain Smartphone

LG maybe set to launch own Blockchain smartphone according to Korean media outlet Chosun. According to the Chosun report, the consumer electronics giant may release the Blockchain smartphone in response to major competitor Samsung’s innovation initiative.

The Chosun report read;

“LG is likely to respond to Samsung’s innovation initiative,”

The report further stated that the Consumer electronics giant was having difficulty separating a potential Blockchain phone from Samsung’s earlier releases. According to a Chosun source;

 “LG has been struggling to apply Blockchain to smartphones without any dissimilarity. I think Samsung is trying to prepare differently in the Blockchain field, just as LG responded with a dual-screen when Samsung Galaxy came out with a foldable phone.”

Earlier this year, Samsung released its Galaxy S10 in several models and even released one with its Blockchain key store. The model is complete with ERC-20 tokens, dapps, and recently Bitcoin. This looks like what consumer electronics giant LG, is trying to benchmark on.

According to the Chosun report, LG has also completed market research on dapp and Blockchain providers. Earlier this summer, LG applied to trademark “ThinQ Wallet” in the United States. The patent states ThinQ is purposed for a transaction, e-money services, and settlement.

LG and Samsung may be the major big names in the electronics field preparing for the Blockchain, but they are not alone. Last December saw the first shipments made of the Sirin Labs’ Finney Blockchain smartphone starting at $999 and just last week, Huobi Global announced the launch of its Acute Angle Blockchain phone In Southeast Asian markets.

These developments demonstrate how various industries are preparing to integrate Blockchain technology to their core businesses. It’s evident that despite the current slowdown in crypto price movement, the adoption of Blockchain technology is not showing signs slowing down.
